Engineering Inspector - City of Greenwood Vi ....

The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your application for the Engineering Inspector position.  The purpose of this position is to ensure contractor activities and work products in the Village are performed consistent with the Village's high standards and expectations so that all infrastructure is safe, clean, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally well built and maintained.  The Engineering Inspector performs engineering inspection work including monitoring field capital improvement projects (CIP); reviewing plans and specifications; providing assistance to professional engineering staff; resolving construction and right-of-way issues in the field; inspecting streets, traffic control, and rights-of-way to ensure conformance with Village standards; and working with contractors to ensure quality projects are completed. Typical activities can include directing contractors, observing right-of-way permit users performing utility installation and repair, coordinating projects with utility companies and governmental agencies, maintaining accurate records of resources utilized and quantities of materials, collecting and recording data for accurate inventory, and making independent on-site field adjustments. This position will monitor and inspect pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction, preservation seal coats, crack sealing, concrete repair, and utility street cuts and patches. The Engineering Inspector also gathers and provides data to resolve construction issues and makes recommendations to upper-level management on construction related matters within the Village. This position is heavily customer service oriented providing assistance and resolving problems through positive interactions with Village staff, the general public, outside vendors, and contractors. 

The knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are typically gained through the completion high school or GED, three years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience for public works projects, and the ability to interpret and enforce construction standards and requirements.  This position will be required to operate related equipment and instruments in a safe and efficient manner.  A satisfactory driving record and the ability to perform physically demanding work at any hour of the day, any day of the week, along with high volume roadways, on hot summer days and/or in cold weather are necessary.
