Ensure compliance of plans and specifications of all private development
projects by conducting inspections of public and private facilities and
resolving issues related to the adherence to standards specifications of the
City of Brighton. This position must work well independently and with teams,
while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations
skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values.

Receives general supervision from Utilities Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Performs a wide variety of professional level duties associated with reviewing
plans and specifications on assigned projects and ensuring compliance with City
standards and specifications for the development of public and private
Ensures all materials conform to current City standards and specifications.
Conducts inspections of main line sewer, water, and storm drains for
Schedules inspections, testing, walk-through, warranty and sequence of work
with outside contractors and other City staff.
Reviews as-built drawings for accuracy.
Inspects sub grade, asphalt, curb and gutter.
Inspects all backfill operations. Inspects signage.
Performs locates in the field.
Issues warranty letters on public improvements.
Issues various field reports such as, fire hydrants, valve and footage.
Works with field personnel on a daily basis to address unique and differing
construction issues and concerns.
Responds to concerns and questions from the general public regarding projects.

Interpret, understand, and follow ordinances, regulations, standards, and

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in
the course of work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in
construction inspection or the performance of related work.
Ability to perform physical work, and to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to walk,
sit, reach, grasp and perform similar body movements; possess hand/eye
coordination adequate to operate office equipment, keyboards, calculator and
telephone. Ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone and to hear
computer malfunctions. Ability to see and read instructions, financial
statements and documents, and characters on a computer; ability to work
out-of-doors in inclement weather and in confined spaces.
Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license with safe driving record.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to complete FEMA ICS 100 and IS 700 training within six (6) months of
