Public Works Director - City of Cody, Wyoming

THE COMMUNITY
The City of Cody is the county seat and the most populous city in Park County, WY.  Cody is a thriving community of about 10,000 people focused on serving the needs of the stable population base as well as the hundreds of  thousands of annual visitors who travel from around the world to experience the beauty and culture of this mountainous area.  The Cody tourism industry is highlighted by its location just 50 miles from the east en-trance to Yellowstone National Park.  It is sit-uated in an area of world-class recreational opportunities such as fishing, mountain biking, hunting, and snowmobiling.

THE ORGANIZATION
The City of Cody operates as a Mayor-Council form of government and a professional administrator manages the daily operations and internal affairs of the City.  The City has 4 departments and 100 full-time employees.

THE CANDIDATE
Candidates for the position should possess demonstrated leadership skills, high integrity, and department-level financial management proficiency. The City is interested in candidates who can establish community, local and regional partnerships, lead by example and build successful working relationships with Public Works Department members and City staff. The Director reports directly to the City Administrator.  The Director must be accountable, responsive to issues, and able to provide a vision and direction for the Department.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department overall consists of four Divisions: Streets & Vehicle Maintenance (10), Water/Wastewater (9), Electric (10), Solid Waste (9) and Engineering Tech II, as well as works closely with Community Development Staff (City Planner, Inspector Division (2) and Administrative Assistant.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction management, public or business administration or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience to include at least three years of management experience are required. A Master's degree and a PE certification are strongly preferred, but not required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range is $81,000 to $111,710. (DOQ).  The excellent benefit package includes health insurance, participation in the Wyoming Retirement Pension Plan, vacation accrual, sick leave accrual, paid holidays, cell phone and vehicle allowance.
