We have a great opportunity for everyone to help us give back to the community during this crazy time we are all in!
The Highline Canal Conservancy has asked us if we would be interested in volunteering at a tree planting along the High Line Canal on Saturday, October 23 from 8 am – 12 pm near Eisenhower Park at 4300 E Dartmouth Ave, Denver, CO 80222. We will plant [up to 20] trees along the corridor to help revitalize the canopy and enhance the ecological health of the Canal. Volunteers will work in groups of 4-5 to plant ~4 trees per group over the course of the event. Each group will be led by a trained Tree Planting Crew Leader, who will teach volunteers tree planting best practices and oversee the planting process.
No prior volunteer training or experience is needed to participate in this tree planting; you will receive all the on-the-job training required. However, please keep in mind that tree planting is physically intensive work (involving bending and lifting up to 30lbs, digging holes, and shoveling mulch). All participants will need to be vaccinated and show card at their vaccine card event. All volunteers must be over the age of 16. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature. Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants (covering your ankles) suitable for working in tall vegetation.
A light lunch will be provided to all volunteers. We will reach out via email to registered participants as we approach the event date to confirm the final event details, including the parking and meetup locations.
Please RSVP to Ryan Garringer (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are able to join to give back to the community for just 4 short hours!
Thank you APWA CO!
